1/3/2024 0 Comments Monster truckMost still use a lightweight fiberglass “body" placed over the frame to make their creations resemble a truck. Monster truck builders use custom tubular frames, powerful supercharged engines, and military-grade suspensions to create their powerful machines. Most modern monster trucks, however, are specially-built from the ground up. Early monster trucks were “regular" trucks that had been heavily modified. Monster trucks look like trucks (mostly). This is necessary so that the huge tires on monster trucks can still make tight turns. This means that the driver can steer both the front wheels and the back wheels at the same time. Monster trucks feature hydraulic steering in both the front and the rear. Monster trucks have more than just monstrous tires, though. Today, most monster truck tires are 66 inches in diameter! These tires - known as “Terra" tires - are also used on large farm equipment, such as fertilizer spreaders. Eventually, though, even those tires weren't big enough. These tires were about three times larger than the tires used on most trucks. Today, all trucks with oversized tires, large engines, and heavy-duty suspensions are known as monster trucks.Īt first, Bigfoot and other monster trucks had 48-inch ( diameter) tires. Before long, car-crushing monster trucks were being built all over the country.īob George, an owner of a motorsport promotion company, called Bigfoot a “monster truck" and the name stuck. An event promoter saw the video and asked Chandler to repeat the car crush in front of a crowd at a local auto show. In an empty cornfield in rural Missouri, Chandler drove Bigfoot over two old junk cars parked side by side.Ī friend caught Bigfoot's first car crush on video and the rest, as they say, is history. One fateful day in April 1981, Chandler decided to do something kind of crazy just to see if he could do it. His modified Ford F-250 became known as “ Bigfoot." Chandler would often take Bigfoot to truck shows and auto exhibitions, so that others could see the off-road modifications he had made. One of the first monster trucks was created by a man named Bob Chandler. They added bigger tires and more sturdy suspensions, so that their trucks could drive over rough terrain and obstacles, like big rocks and creeks. People who liked to drive off-road for fun and adventure began modifying their trucks. Monster trucks got their start in the late 1970s and early 1980s. There's no texture you can change to dim the lights on your character instead you'll have to edit a stage's character light values. While stage lighting is baked into the textures, character lighting is dynamic. Maplecrest is now a pretty convincing nighttime stage, but our characters are still bright as if the sun's beating down on them! This brings us to our next section. Also removed the last few non-animal NPCs.Īll assets except the skybox are further darkened. If you do any major lighting changes, make sure to do them across the board to avoid inconsistency.Īll of Maplecrest is now uniformly dimmed and very gently tinted blue. There's a ton you can do with this that I can't possibly all cover here, but I can document the progression of Slumbercrest to give you a general idea.Īfter some trial and error, I replaced Maplecrest's sunny blue skybox with one that has a bright full moon in a dark black sky. Here's the part where everything relies on your creativity and artistic ability. Be mindful of the consequences if you are dealing with props that may cover up undrawn patches of the stage! You can paint over the alpha channel to remove any elements of a stage you don't want visible (props like the blimp in Rooftops, NPCs, etc). We'll use this to remove all of Maplecrest's NPCs except for the stray animals. While the alpha channel is selected, you can paint over any parts of the texture you don't want to be visible ingame. If only the alpha channel is visible, visible areas will be white and transparent areas will be black. Making the alpha channel visible while the RGB channels are visible will cause areas that will appear as transparent to be bathed in red. DDS files make use of a special alpha channel to determine what appears as transparent you can find the alpha channel on the Channels tab next to Layers. We want these guys gone, so we'll need to make them appear as transparent ingame. Opening maplecrest_anim_npcs_01.dds, you'll see a typical spritesheet of various characters. ![]() Why would they be hanging around at night?
1/3/2024 0 Comments Gran turismo 7 ps4 free roam![]() Polyphony Digital on the other hand uses haptic feedback to simulate sliding, understeering, and road conditions. It started wonderfully with Astro’s Playroom at launch, but a lot of developers just kind of…forgot about it. Tutorials like starting and stopping your car also help you learn the basics.Īs time has gone on, some studios (mainly first-party Sony outfits) have started to really justify the DualSense. Or you can do a combination of that, put turn markers on so you see how to tackle a course, and have visual cues or straight-up autopilot on with several driving mechanics. You can turn on brake areas, and have your car automatically brake in those zones. The difficulty settings have a ton of sliders, and you can alter pretty much every facet of actual driving and how the map presents information. If you’re concerned that Gran Turismo 7 is going to be too “simmy,” you can change that. You can do a classic reverse racing situation, as well as dabble in parts of the track (to the point where it doesn’t even feel like the same location, in a good way), and take on time trials, free play lobbies (where you can just drive around and chill), arcade mode, and events. Circling back to those track layouts, there are multiple ways to play a course. But GT7 does make it clear that you should stop and smell the roses and not rush: there’s plenty to get to. While I wouldn’t say that I encountered “gates” so to speak in a traditional sense, there were lull periods, where I was expected to dabble in racing cheaper cars for a bit to appreciate them before moving on to the next loose “stage.”ĭepending on the type of person you are, it can be exhausting at times, and can feel like a drip-feed of unlocks. While GT7 looks traditional on the surface, it can get a little weird at times and strangely contemplative. You can see this come through in the dialogue from the “car experts” in-universe, where they wax poetic about the olden days of car design and spout car facts left and right.Īll of those descriptors are compliments. It’s strange, and I want to meet the person behind the concept because I think they’d have a lot of interesting things to say. The café itself is a bizarre bourgeois location where you acquire literal restaurant menus as “quests,” and try and complete them to move on to the next set of menus. There are a few hubs you can visit in the text-based overworld (like your garage, used car dealerships, the aforementioned café, and so on). Your main sense of progression is going to come from the hub, which facilitates café questlines (mostly involving completing objectives like a specific race to chase, or collecting a certain array of cars), license challenges (gates that allow you to unlock more content), and general races that up your cashflow and let you buy more cars to store in your garage. 34 tracks (with 97 layouts total) with traditional races and a “music rally” arcade mode.Over 400 cars (in-game I have a “there are 424 cars to collect” notification). ![]() ![]() Since numbers often matter to racing fans, here are the cold hard stats as to what GT7 entails at launch: While a lot of visual mediums suffer from it, it’s a boon for the genre, especially when the weather kicks in. A few screens looked like they were real, and GT7 along with the Forza series has brought in a hyper-realistic style that works super well for modern racers. I experienced the game on PS5, where it looks stunning and runs fantastically. The second thing I noticed about the new entry is the visual style. The whole product, from top to bottom, feels like it has stuff packed in, so that something is always going on, even if you’re looking at brief text on-screen. Polyphony Digital is really leaning into nostalgia this time around, and not just for the GT series, but nostalgia as a whole. One of the first things I noticed about Gran Turismo 7 is that its loading screens are littered with jazz and basketball facts. Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment Instead of living in its world, I was merely a frequent tourist. But somewhere around the “Prologue” release of the fifth iteration, I started to get a little more distant. Gran Turismo 2 is one of my most-played games of all time, period, over my lifetime. Back when Gran Turismo was one of the only simulation-heavy racing games, it was an institution: both at large and in my home. 1/3/2024 0 Comments Margarita bottle heb![]() ![]() “A lot of my life force went into this mural,” Marengo Sanchez says.
